TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State’s track and field team has yet another award to display on the shelf. Head coach Bob Braman has been named the Men’s South Region Coach of the Year as announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

"I'm honored to be named South Region Head Coach of the Year,” Braman said. "It's a reflection of our wonderful coaching staff and all their efforts."

The 2009 season has already had several accomplishments made as Braman coached three athletes who were named ACC Performers of the Week, one athlete to record the 2009 world indoor long jump at one point, reset numerous school records and successfully have both teams dominate the conference meet. The men’s squad earned their seventh-consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference title and eighth overall, while the women’s victory was the first in school history.

After leading both the men’s and women’s track and field teams to capture the ACC title, Coach Braman guided the Seminoles to finish both in the top 10 at the NCAA Indoor National Meet.

If the indoor season is any indication of what the outdoor season is going to hold for the 2009 squads, the Seminoles should make extra room in the display cabinet for additional awards. Braman was already honored with two other awards this season as he was named the ACC Men’s and Women’s Indoor Coach of the Year.
