PERFORMANCE RESULTS

Redshirt freshman is making his first NCAA postseason appearance at the East Preliminary meet in the 800...qualified on the strength of his lifetime-best 1:49.48, set in the preliminary heat at the ACC Outdoor Championships.

2014

Outdoor: Has competed in six meets, almost exclusively in the 800...backed up his preliminary round PR at the ACC Championships with a fourth-place finish in the final, where he helped teammate Otniel Teixeira make the winning move...his five point contribution was instrumental in FSU claiming the team title...opened the season with a win (1:51.05) at FSU Relays, then followed with a 1:50.50 at the Crimson Tide Invitational...redshirted during the indoor season...built distance base in the fall working with cross country program.

2013

Indoor: Represented the Seminoles in four meets, including the ACC Indoor Championships, where he advanced to the finals of the 800 on the strength of his indoor PR of 1:51.23...finished eighth in the final for his first conference scoring performance...had a breakthrough 800 at the Razorback Invitational, finishing with then-best 1:52.30 in third place overall after winning his heat...sat out the outdoor season as a redshirt, but did run a lifetime-best 1:50.07 at the Seminole Invitational, competing unattached.

Personal: Attended Martin County High, competing in cross country and track...three-time 3A state qualifier in the 800, capped by runner-up finish in 2012...set school record in 800 (1:52.83)...cross country team also qualified for state during his senior year...2012 Treasure Coast Scripps Track Athlete of the Year...his father, Richard Burton, pole vaulted in college...strong student who brought 25 dual enrollment hours to FSU...majoring in business...born July 7, 1994.
