TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams earned national recognition Wednesday when they were ranked among the best programs in College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll. The men’s team checked in at 20th and the women’s team came in 25th in the first polls of the season.
The rankings are based on each team’s best dual meet lineup as voted by a panel of collegiate coaches. The poll is released four times during the swimming and diving season.
The men’s and women’s teams already proved they can beat their higher ranked opponents. Earlier this month both teams defeated Louisiana State whose squads are ranked 15th (men) and 21st (women) in the same poll.
"I'm glad our teams’ accomplishments in our dual meets so far have been recognized,” Head Coach Neil Harper said. “We're looking forward to more competitions to give us an opportunity to move up in the rankings! The experience of going against higher ranked teams will prepare us for the ACC and NCAA championships. "
Also in the rankings are upcoming Seminole foes Florida (fourth-men’s, fifth-women’s), Virginia (eighth-men’s, 11th-women’s) and Virginia Tech (23rd-men’s, 17th-women’s).
Up next the entire squad heads to Atlanta for the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational which takes place from Friday, November 20 to Sunday, November 22.
