TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- After contributing a pair of wins on the boards in the 189-109 win over Florida Gulf Coast on Friday, senior Kelsey Goodman was named the ACC Diver of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday. Goodman is the fifth Seminole to earn weekly accolades this season.
"Being recognized for this award just pushes me to train harder," Goodman said. "I can see my hard work paying off and I just want to keep doing well."
In her first event on Friday, Goodman won 1-meter with a near career-high score of 322.20.
Goodman kept up the momentum on 3-meter by turning in an extraordinary performance with a score of 373.05, breaking the school record.
The Moultrie, Ga. native's new standard topped senior Ariel Rittenhouse's 2013 ACC Championship score of 369.55.
"I was thrilled with my diving on Friday," Goodman said. "I used some new dives that I was unsure of, but Pat (Jeffrey) pushed me because he knew I could do it. He made me feel confident and like the awesome coach that he is, he was right."
Goodman helped lead the charge on the boards as Florida State swept both 1-meter and 3-meter. Katrina Young and Rittenhouse followed in second and third respectively in both events.
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be back home against NC State and Georgia Tech on Oct. 25 at 4 p.m.
