TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -  The FINA (Federation Internationale De Natation)Diving Grand Prix will be making its fifth stop on the  eight-event circuit in Guanajuato, Mexico on May 15-18. Representing Team USA for the first time in the four-day meet at the Macrocentro Deportivo CEDAJ1 will be former Seminole Kelsey Goodman.

The FINA Grand Prix will be the first international meet and final competition of Goodman's career.

"I'm really happy for Kelsey," FSU head diving coach Patrick Jeffrey said. "Throughout her career, she's battled and fought for everything and I'm very proud of her for sticking with it and making it to this level. She's had a solid diving career and I can't wait to see how she closes it out."

Goodman earned her spot by ways of a fifth place finish in 3-meter at the 2013 USA Winter Diving Nationals with a total score of 827.75.

Goodman will compete in the women's 3-meter springboard competition on Thursday with hopes of advancing to the semifinal later that day.  The final for the event is scheduled for Saturday.

FINA rules mandate that the top 12 scoring divers from individual prelims are divided into two semifinal heats. The top three in each semifinal advance into the final round.

"I'm really excited for the Grand Prix," Goodman said. "It will be my first international meet and I think it will be the perfect way to end my career."

In her final season as a Seminole, Goodman helped FSU by placing eighth in 3-meter and 10th on 1-meter at the 2014 ACC Championships. She set a new school record on 3-meter in the dual meet against Florida Gulf Coast with a total of 373.05 and was awarded the ACC Diver of the Week twice during the 2013-14 season.

Each year, the FINA Diving Grand Prix invites divers from all parts of the world to compete during the February-June period in a circuit of eight four-day meets.

FINA intends to provide the international diving elite with a high-level competition that takes place in countries or locations that have a strong tradition in the sport, therefore enhancing their popularity.

The 2014 FINA Grand Prix has made four previous stops - Madrid (Feb. 14-16), Rosenstock (Feb. 21-23), Gatineau (May 1-4), San Juan (May 11-15) prior to Guanajuato. The circuit will pick up again in August before closing out with two meets in October.
