"I think it's a huge accomplishment," FSU diving coach Patrick Jeffrey said. "With our new pool, we are going to have belts on deck and some other great tools and I think with that we will get him a couple more Olympic dives and he will be a contender at the Olympic Trials. I am excited about it."
Horner scored a season high 420.50 points on the three-meter during finals including the highest scoring dive of the fifth round, a back 3.5 somersault in the tuck position that earned the Seminole diver 81.60 points. Horner finished the meet with a inward 3.5 somersault in the tuck position that earned him 85.00 points and helped to solidify his seventh place position.
Horner also finished second on the one-meter at the meet with a score of 361.80, however divers do not compete on the one-meter at the Olympics.
Sophomore Aleia Monden also competed at the Speedo Nationals on the one-meter, three-meter and platform, but did not qualify for finals in any of her three events
The U.S. Olympic Trials will be held June 18-22 in
