TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -  The men's and women's Florida State swimming teams competed in their first of two exhibition contests today at the Morcom Aquatics Center. Sophomores Kaityln Dressel and Juan Sequera were the top scorers for each of the two teams over the course of five events.

"I was very pleased with the performance of the team," head coach Neil Harper said.  "We've really been hitting it hard in the weight room and with dryland as well as in the pool, so it's very early in the season but the times were very good today.  There were a lot winning times that I was encouraged by that stood out and were impressive and they're performing them even when they're beat up and tired."

Dressel won heats of the 50 free (23.48), 100 breast (1:07.19) and 200 free (1:54.43)while Sequera went four-for-five and won the 100 fly (51.22), 100 back (52.76), 100 breast(57.99) and 200 free(1:44.15).

"As a whole, I was pleasantly surprised and it was a great way to get the preseason started," Harper said.  "Now we can focus on getting kids in some of their prime events for the Garnet vs. Gold meet next weekend. It will be true test after another hard week of work, but today was a good start."
