2004-05: Returned after a two-year absence to earn her
second All-ACC honors and take part in her second NCAA
Championships...Placed second in the 100 freestyle with a time
of 50.05 at the ACC meet (Feb. 16-19). Came back to lead off
the 400 freestyle relay with a career-best time of 49.77 that
rates as the second-fastest mark in school history...Took second
in the 50 freestyle with a personal-best time of 23.08 that lists
as the fourth-fastest at FSU...Broke into the Florida State all-time
top ten in the 200 freestyle at number eight, posting a time of
1:50.70 to take 11th...Member of three top three relays,
including the 400 freestyle and 400 medley quartets that
finished second...Swam a pair of events at the NCAA
Championships (March 18-20), taking 36th in the 100 freestyle
at 50.34 to go along with a 59th-place 23.61 during the 50
freestyle...Also swam on four relays at the national
summit...Made the finals of both the 50 and 100 freestyle at
the Georgia Fall Invitational (Dec. 3-5), taking eighth in both
events with times of 23.38 and 50.59 respectively...Scored
seven victories throughout the dual meet season with 16 topthree
finishes...Won both the 50 freestyle (23.73) and 100
freestyle (51.31) against fourth-ranked Florida...Posted seven
NCAA "B" cuts during the season...Honored as team MVP, while
also picking up the Comeback Award at the annual team
banquet...Tied for 24th in the 50-meter freestyle at the 2005
ConocoPhillips US National Championships with a career-best
long-course time of 26.54...Placed 36th in the 100-meter
freestyle with a time of 57.90 that she bettered to 57.32 in a
time trial.
AT VIRGINIA (2001-02): Highlighted her only year with the
Cavaliers by earning All-America honors as a member of UVA's
200 freestyle relay (1:31.46) that placed eighth at the NCAA
Championships...Captured Honorable Mention All-America
status as member of the 400 freestyle relay (3:19.81)...Both
relay times are still Atlantic Coast Conference records...Placed
26th in the 100 freestyle at the national meet with a season-best
time of 50.12...Scored a trio of top-16 finishes at the ACC
Championships...Best placing was a sixth-place, NCAA "B" cut
time of 50.62 in the 100 freestyle...Also finished ninth in the
200 free with another NCAA qualifying time of 1:49.94, while
her 23.64 in the 50 free placed her 11th.
HIGH SCHOOL: Took her shot at the 2000 Olympics,
participating in the US Olympic Trials in the 100 freestyle...Also
swam at the US Spring Nationals that year, placing in the top
five on the 400 and 800 freestyle relays...Earned NISCA All-
America and US Swimming Scholastic All-America honors her
last three years in high school...Captured a trio of state
championships, winning the 50 and 100 freestyle as a junior,
while taking part in the winning 400 freestyle relay as a
senior...Finished runner-up in the 50 and 100 freestyle during
her sophomore and senior years...Competed at the 1999 US
Junior Nationals in the 50 free...Member of the National Honor
Society...Swam for Kathy Menendez at Durant, while Peter
Banks was her club coach at Brandon Blue Wave.
PERSONAL: Born August 29, 1983...Majoring in exercise
physiology...Daughter of Mike and Susan Ellis...Grandfather
played football at Ohio University and served as
captain...Dean's list student since enrolling in Florida State in
the fall of 2002.
