TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Led by two-time ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year James Ramsey, Florida State placed a league-best and school record nine student-athletes on the 2012 All-ACC Academic Baseball team as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference and Commissioner John Swofford.

Ramsey graduated magna cum laude in April with a B.S. degree in Finance. He is a three-time recipient of the Golden Torch, which is awarded to the student-athlete with the highest GPA on each of FSU's athletic teams. The Alpharetta, Ga., native has been named to the Dean's List at FSU six times and earned President's List honors on three occasions. Ramsey finished his senior season as the 2012 ACC Player of the Year, a consensus All-American, 2012 Capital One Baseball Academic All-America of the Year and Lowe's Senior CLASS Award winner.

Joining Ramsey on this year's team from Florida State are Robert Benincasa (Jr., Finance), Mike Compton (Fr., Psychology), Brandon Leibrandt (Fr., Sport Management), Stephen McGee (So., Hospitality Management), Peter Miller (So., Criminology), Seth Miller (Jr., Sport Management), Gage Smith (So., Marketing) and Devon Travis (Jr., Marketing).

Ramsey and Travis are three-time honorees on the All-ACC Academic team, while Benincasa made the team for the second year in a row.

Ramsey, Clemson's Phil Pohl and Georgia Tech's Brandon Thomas were also Capital One Academic All-District selections in 2012, along with six other All-ACC Academic Team honorees - Duke's Will Piwnica-Worms, Florida State's Peter Miller, Maryland's Brett Harman and Kyle Convissar, NC State's Vance Williams and Wake Forest's Evan Stephens.

Twenty-one student-athletes named to the 2012 All-ACC Academic Baseball Team earned spots on the squad on at least one previous occasion.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
