SEMINOLE ATHLETIC TRAINING CAMP
 |
 |
| The Seminole Athletic Training Camp
conducted by Director of Sports Medicine- Randy Oravetz, has been held
every summer for the past 27 years. Geared towards but not limited to the
high school student athletic trainer, the camp provides valuable
experiences in the care, prevention, and rehabilitation of athletic
related injuries/illness. Each participant spends a significant amount of
time learning practical applications and techniques from Florida State
Staff Athletic Trainers in a laboratory setting. |
 |
 |
| The camp consists of a 3 1/2 day
period where each participant engages in lecture discussions of common
upper and lower extremity injuries, emergency procedures, and heat related
illnesses. The students then get hands on experience with taping, wrapping,
bracing techniques, and initial care procedures. During the
camp the students will get the opportunity to view surgical procedures and
actual FSU video injury footage. One of the highlights of this year's camp
is a guiding tour of FSU's brand new 15,000 square foot, multi-million dollar
Don Fauls Athletic Training Room. Students will get an early sneak peak as
the facility does not officially open until August 2003. This entire experience
will allow each student to see all the advancements that the field of sports
medicine has to offer.
