    Florida State's Nick Pappas Elected To NATA Hall Of Fame

    Influential Athletic Trainer will be inducted Thursday, June 28 in St. Louis.

    Robin Gibson, ATC, LAT is entering her 24th year at Florida State University and has recently been promoted to the position of Director of Sports Medicine. Upon completion of her B.S. from San Diego State University, she began her career at Florida State University as a graduate assistant athletic trainer in June 1988. She has been promoted during her career at Florida State to Assistant Athletic Trainer, Head Women's Athletic Trainer, Associate Director of Sports Medicine and in July 2011 was named Director of Sports Medicine.

    Gibson is responsible for the overall operation of the Florida State University Athletics Department Sports Medicine Program. She supervises a full-time staff of eleven certified athletic trainers, eight certified graduate assistant athletic trainers and sixty athletic training students. Gibson and her staff are responsible for the daily care, treatment, and rehabilitation of approximately 500 student-athletes. She is a member of the Athletics Department S.O.A.F. Committee, Eating Disorders Committee and Substance Abuse Committee.

    Gibson splits her time between her sports medicine administrative duties and rendering medical care for the Florida State University Women's Soccer Team. She is in her fourth season of handling the athletic training duties for the women's soccer team and has been with the team for four consecutive Elite 8 appearances. Gibson joined the soccer program following a successful tenure with the Seminole Softball Team which covered 20 seasons. During her time with the softball team, Florida State captured 10 ACC Championships including six straight from 1995 to 2000. The Seminole softball team also made 19 NCAA Regional appearances and six trips to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

    Additionally, Gibson is a course instructor for the Department of Nutrition, Food and Exercise Sciences. She teaches Athletic Training I and Athletic Training II for athletic training students and Practicum 5 for third year athletic training students. She is directly involved with the supervision and clinical education of the students in the athletic training curriculum.

    A native of Buffalo, NY, Gibson has been a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association since August 1987. She is a State of Florida licensed athletic trainer, an American Red Cross certified professional rescuer, an Approved Clinical Instructor by the NATABOC, a member of the College/University Athletic Trainers' Association and a member of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA).

    In her spare time, Gibson enjoys competing in triathlons and in July 2011 completed her first Ironman competition in Lake Placid, NY. She is a member of USA Triathlon, Gulf Winds Track Club and Gulf Winds Triathlon Club.
