If you are to ask Vicki Cupp about her job, she will tell you she is "living the dream." Although she was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, her family's roots are in north Florida and she grew up bleeding garnet and gold. It is no surprise, then, that she attended Florida State University and graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Psychology.
After utilizing her degree as human resources generalist for several years, Vicki accepted a Divisional Director of Human Resources position with a large health care company based in Silver Spring, Maryland. In this role, she supported retirement, assisted living, and rehabilitation centers within Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas. Her position focused on the areas of recruiting, training, and employee relations.
Vicki was then promoted into an Operations position and it was during this time that she received her Master of Science in HealthCare Administration from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida. From there she became an Administrator, then Executive Director of several properties, then Regional Director of Operations for facilities in southeast and southwest Florida.
After twelve years in health care, Vicki decided to leave behind late nights in airports and being on-call 24 hours per day to team up with a co-worker and open up a franchise business, "Cookies by Design," in Coral Springs, Florida. While this began as a part-time venture, within two years the cookie shoppe grew to eleven employees and Vicki was able to become a full-time partner, managing the financial and customer service side of the business.
Owning Cookies by Design gave Vicki the opportunity to be involved in the Seminole Club of Broward County and also provided more free time to attend FSU sporting events in Tallahassee--a place she eventually decided to make her home again.
After selling the cookie franchise in 2001, Vicki relocated to Tallahassee with the desire to work with her alma mater. The Thagard Student Health Center was a perfect fit, and in 2002 she became their Immunization Coordinator and later Health Compliance Coordinator.
In November of 2008, Vicki transferred to the Athletic Academic Support Services Department and currently serves as Office Manager. Her duties include overseeing office operations, hiring and scheduling front desk and computer lab staff, processing payroll, handling travel and purchasing duties, and assisting student-athletes in locating books and supplies needed for their coursework.
The best part of her position is working closely with the Academic Advisors and student-athletes to help them achieve their educational goals.
Vicki is a member of the Seminole Boosters, the FSU Alumni Association, and the Tallahassee Seminole Club.
