FSU Football Players Welcome Home Military Service Men and Women
Dec. 12, 2003
On Saturday, December 6th, four Florida State football players, James Coleman, Travis Johnson, Charles Howard, and Chris Rix showed community support by participating in Family Day at the Naval and Marine Corps Reserve Center.
Family Day is an annual event in which the Navy and Marines celebrate the holidays with their families and welcome back members who have been fighting in the ongoing United States war on Terrorism. There were over 135 active reservists in attendance, along with most of their families.
The athletes interacted and spoke with the families for a good hour before signing footballs for the children. The student-athletes then joined the children outside, even on the bitterly cold day, for some fun on the inflatables.
Charles Howard and Travis Johnson put on sumo-wrestling suits and competed. James Coleman put on the Velcro suit to see if the wall would hold him up. Then Charles Howard decided to test his luck by jousting against the children. Unfortunately, nobody was able to knock him over. The football players represented Florida State University in a first-class manner.
