June 10, 2005: Marshall McDougall made his major league debut for the Texas Rangers on June 7 against the Philadelphia Phillies. An All-America at Florida State in 2000, he wrote himself into the NCAA record book for homeruns and RBIs on May 9, 1999 in a 26-2 rout over the Maryland Terrapins. McDougall ended the day 7-7 with a single, a solo homerun, a two-run homerun, three 3-run homeruns, and a grand slam to finish with an astounding six homeruns which broke the home run record of five set by Campbell's Henry Rochelle in 1985 against Radford. He also had 16 RBI which broke Louisville's Jim LaFountain's record of 14 set in 1976 against Western Kentucky.

June 8, 2005: Former Seminole Brooke Wyckoff has rebounded well from last season's knee injury and is competing in her fourth WNBA season.

June 7, 2005: Senior reliever Kevin Lynch was voted to the NCAA All-Region Team this weekend as he helped lead the Seminoles to a perfect 3-0 mark in the Tallahassee Regional. Florida State will travel to Gainesville this weekend to take on Florida with the winner advancing to the College World Series.

June 6, 2005: Two weeks removed from a regional championship, Trackwire and Track and Field News Magazine have the Florida State men's track and field team finishing second in the nation at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. The Seminoles, who finished 20th last season, swept the Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships this season and won their first NCAA East Region title the last weekend in May.

June 5, 2005: Florida State technology gurus Ryan Pensy (left) and Patrick Delin (right) at the NCAA Baseball Regional at FSU's Dick Howser Stadium. Delin recently won a 2005 Davis Productivity Award for the Sports Medicine and Training software package that he developed. The award is presented annually to state government employees whose work significantly and measurably increase productivity and promote innovation to improve state services.

June 4, 2005: Dave Cowens, considered to be the greatest play in Florida State basketball history, was recently named as the head coach of the new Chicago franchise of the WNBA. The NBA Hall of Famer and one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history averaged a double-double in points and rebounds during his collegiate career as a Seminole and his professional career as a member of the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks.

June 3, 2005: For the fourth consecutive year the Florida State Women's Golf Team was honored with the Director's Cup at the 2005 Golden Nole Banquet. The Director's Cup was established during the 1996-1997 academic year by Athletics Director Dave Hart to promote athletes involvement in the community. The Golf Team received this award as a form of recognition for their countless volunteer hours at the Dick Howser Center for Childhood Services in Tallahassee throughout the academic year.

June 2, 2005: Members of the men's basketball team hold up Georgia first-grader Brevin Harris' Flat Stanley. Flat Stanley is a nation-wide campaign to encourage reading to young children.

June 1, 2005: Voice of FSU women's basketball Ryan Pensy and point guard Holly Johnson share a laugh on the set of ESPN's SportsCenter. The team took a tour of the ESPN studios while in Connecticut last March.

May 31, 2005: Junior Antonio Cromartie was named to the Playboy preseason All-America team and was listed as the No. 2 rated cornerback in the country by The Sporting News.

May 30, 2005: Redshirt sophomore Garrett Johnson's 20 points helped FSU win its first NCAA East Region Championship. The Seminoles edged Florida by two points 96-94 in the team title behind the All-American's discus and shot put wins.

May 29, 2005: Florida State senior Mat Cloer accepts his national ITA/Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award from the NCAA men's tennis committee chairman and UCLA head coach Billy Martin. Cloer received the award at the ITA banquet in College Station, Texas on Wednesday. He is the first men's tennis player to earn a national award. The following day Cloer became the first men's player to win an All-America award in singles when he beat No. 9 Sven Swinnen of Oregon.

May 28, 2005: The Florida State softball team concluded the season last week at the NCAA Regional championships and ended the year 35-28 overall.
