The Seminole Athletic Training Camp conducted by Director of Sports Medicine Randy Oravetz, has been held every summer since 1976. Geared towards but not limited to the high school athletic trainer, the camp provides valuable experiences in the care, prevention, and rehabilitation of athletic related injuries/illness. Each participant spends a significant amount of time learning practical applications and techniques from the Florida State Staff Athletic Trainers' in a laboratory setting.
The camp consists of a 3 ½ day period where each participant engages in lecture discussions of common upper and lower extremity injuries, emergency procedures, and heat related illnesses. The students then get hands on experience with taping, wrapping, bracing, and initial care procedures. During this camp the students will get the opportunity to view actual FSU injury footage caught on video. A guided tour will then take place of FSU's medical facilities including their 15,000 square foot, multi-million dollar Don Fauls Athletic Training Room. This entire experience will allow each student to see all the advancements that the field of athletic medicine has to offer.
