EJ Manuel became the second quarterback in three years to capture MVP honors of the Senior Bowl, thanks to his two-touchdown performance in Mobile, Ala. Saturday evening. He joins Christian Ponder as Seminoles that have earned such an honor.
Manuel finished the game 7-of-10 for a team-high 76 yards in the South Team's 21-14 victory. Manuel started the game with a two-yard rushing score and then added a beautiful 20-yard scoring toss on his next offensive series. (See the pass here.)
Manuel then orchestrated a scoring drive late in the game that finished with a rushing score, meaning that all three of the South Team's touchdowns came with FSU's record-breaking signal-caller under center.
Linebacker Vince Williams also had himself quite the game, registering big hit after big hit and finishing with six total tackles. Everett Dawkins had four stops and a half sack of his own and Dustin Hopkins hit all three extra points.
