TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher announced Wednesday that sophomore running back James Wilder, Jr. has been reinstated to the football team.
Wilder's return adds depth to a running-back corps that has needed it this spring.
Devonta Freeman is out with a back injury and the team's lone senior at the position, Chris Thompson, is not taking part in contact drills as he returns from his own back injury while also nursing a broken left hand.
Without Wilder, early-enrollee freshman Mario Pender has been the only true tailback on FSU's roster taking part in tackling drills through the first 2 1/2 weks of spring practice. Fullbacks Lonnie Pryor and Debrale Smiley have seen extended action at running back position as a result.
