TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher announced Wednesday that sophomore running back James Wilder, Jr. has been reinstated to the football team.

Wilder's return adds depth to a running-back corps that has needed it this spring.

Devonta Freeman is out with a back injury and the team's lone senior at the position, Chris Thompson, is not taking part in contact drills as he returns from his own back injury while also nursing a broken left hand.

Without Wilder, early-enrollee freshman Mario Pender has been the only true tailback on FSU's roster taking part in tackling drills through the first 2 1/2 weks of spring practice. Fullbacks Lonnie Pryor and Debrale Smiley have seen extended action at running back position as a result.

In other football news, FSU's Wednesday practice was canceled due to inclement weather in the Tallahassee area. The Seminoles will return to action Thursday at 3:30 p.m. and a make-up date for the missed session will be scheduled within the next week.

As always, stay with for complete coverage of Florida State's spring practices leading into the April 14 spring game at Doak Campbell Stadium.
