Sims, whose sons Ernie Jr. and Marcus both played for the Seminoles, was a four-year letterwinner for FSU from 19777-81. He played running back his first three seasons before switching to linebacker for his senior campaign.
Sims, Sr. finished his career with 273 yards rushing, 57 yards receiving and one tackle.
