Tallahassee, Fla. – Florida State’s 2018 home football game with Virginia Tech will be nationally televised in prime time on Labor Day, Sept. 3, ESPN, the Atlantic Coast Conference, Florida State and Virginia Tech announced Thursday.
The game will match the Seminoles and Hokies for the first time since 2012 and also for the first time on Labor Day. The season-opener for both teams will be Florida State’s eighth appearance on the coveted ESPN Labor Day Monday Night package and will be Virginia Tech’s fourth. The Seminoles will be hosting the package for the third time, but the first since 2009.
In addition to the announcement of the Labor Day game with the Hokies, dates for FSU’s four out-of-conference games for 2018 were announced as well. Following the game with Virginia Tech, the Seminoles will host Samford Sept. 8. Two weeks later, Northern Illinois will visit Doak Campbell Stadium for a Sept. 22 game. Florida State’s out-of-conference road game will be a trip to Notre Dame, Ind., on November 10 to face the Fighting Irish. That game will mark FSU’s fourth visit to Notre Dame Stadium and first since a 37-0 victory in 2003. The 2018 schedule will wrap up with a visit from Florida Nov. 24.
