TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – A school-record tying four Florida State Women’s Basketball student-athletes were selected to the All-ACC Academic Team as Brittany Brown, Ivey Slaughter, Leticia Romero and Chatrice White were recognized by the conference on Friday morning.

Florida State’s four selections tie Duke for the most in the conference this season. For the second straight year, FSU has tied or had the most All-ACC Academic Team selections.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

Brown becomes the fourth Seminole to be placed on the All-ACC Academic Team three times or more, earning the honor in each of her last three seasons. Florida State’s all-time steals leader now has 304 for her career and is six away from moving into sole possession of 18th on the ACC’s all-time steals list. The Fort Walton Beach, Fla., native is a sport management major.

Slaughter is a repeat selection to the academic team. The Macon, Ga., native is also a sport management major who is producing one of her best playing seasons. She leads Florida State with 6.1 rebounds per game while shooting a team-best 53.5 percent (106-of-198) from the floor. Her field goal percentage ranks ninth in the ACC.

Romero becomes a two-time selection to the team, majoring in sport management. She is the only player in the country who is shooting 50+ percent from the floor, 50+ percent from three-point range and 90+ percent from the free throw line. The Las Palmas, Spain, native leads the conference in three-point field goal percentage (52.7 percent) and free throw percentage (93.8 percent). Romero was selected to the Blue Ribbon Panel All-ACC First Team

White is a social science major who makes her first academic team in her first season at FSU. The Shelby, Neb., native leads the Seminoles with five double-doubles, all coming in ACC play. White is the ACC’s Sixth Player of the Year, contributing 8.6 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 50.6 percent off the bench. White has two double-doubles in two games against rival Miami, FSU’s ACC Quarterfinal opponent on Friday.

The ACC All-Academic Team features five student-athletes recognized by the Blue Ribbon Panel as All-ACC selections this season in Duke’s Brown and Rebecca Greenwell, Florida State’s Romero, Louisville’s Myisha Hines-Allen and Miami’s Jessica Thomas. ACC Freshman of the Year Francesa Pan of Georgia Tech is also recognized, in addition to ACC Sixth Player of the Year White of Florida State. Duke’s Leaonna Odom, Syracuse’s Gabby Cooper and Wake Forest’s Alex Sharp join Georgia Tech’s Pan as All-ACC Freshman Team members also earning All-ACC Academic Team status.

Duke redshirt junior guard Lexie Brown was named the recipient of the ninth annual Kay Yow Scholar Athlete of the Year Award.
