“North Idaho College was fortunate to have Braian lead our program to 55 wins in 2 season. Braian is a true leader on and off the court. His passion for the game is second to none. I look forward to following Braian and his successful career at Florida State. His athleticism and ability to not only score but get others involved is unmatched. He is a high IQ guy that can play multiple positions at the next level. We at NIC are excited to follow Braian throughout his time at FSU as well as beyond,” said North Idaho head coach Corey Symons.
ON ANGOLA-RODAS: Earned NJCAA All-America First Team honors as he led North Idaho College to a 31-2 record and into the Sweet 16 of the National Junior College Tournament…led North Idaho and finished 13th nationally with a 21.4 points per game scoring average…ranked ninth nationally among all junior college players with 686 total points scored in 2016…played in the National Junior College Athletic Association Coaches Association All-Star game in 2016…scored four points, pulled down five rebounds and was credited with a game-tying five assists as he helped the Division I All-Stars to the 118-110 victory over the Division II/III All-Stars in the game played at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas…
AS A JUNIOR: Came away with six rebounds off of the bench in a 99-78 win over Iona (Nov. 15)...Recorded his first double-digit scoring prrformance as he came away with 11 points and 2 key steals against Winthrop (Nov 18)...scored a season high 14 points to go with 5 assists against Nicholls State (Dec. 8)...Recorded 6 points and 5 rebounds as he was a spark off of the bench against Florida (Dec. 11)...
AT NORTH IDAHO: Graduated from North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho in 2016…attended North Idaho College during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons…named to the NJCAA Division I All-America First Team as a sophomore in 2016…named the NJCAA Region 18 Player of the Year and was named to the Region 18 First Team as a sophomore…averaged 21.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists while shooting 52 percent from the field and 76 percent from the free throw line…also shot 38 percent from the 3-point line…led North Idaho to a 31-2 record including 31 consecutive victories to open the season…led North Idaho to the second round (Sweet 16) of the NJCAA National Tournament where the Cardinals lost to Southwest Tennessee, 73-72…Angola-Rodas scored his career-high of 39 points in North Idaho’s 110-81 victory over Columbia-Basin where he displayed his full arsenal shooting six of eight from the 3-point line, five of five from the free throw line, with five rebounds, five steals and four assists in only 22 minutes of playing time…named the NJCAA Division I Player of the Week on Nov. 16, 2016 as he led North Idaho to three wins in the Desert Classic at Arizona Western College…averaged 24.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals in three consecutive victories over South Mountain Community College, Eastern Arizona College and Arizona Western in the championship game of the tournament…named the North Idaho Male Athlete of the Year at the school’s annual athletics honors banquet…one of five players on the North Idaho roster to sign with Division I schools in 2016: Kyle Guice (Illinois-Chicago), BJ Blake (Idaho), Lucas Antunez (Toledo) and Trey Burch-Manning (South Dakota) along with Rodas will begin play in the fall of 2016…averaged 13.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists in leading North Idaho to a 23-7 record in his first season at North Idaho…North Idaho was 54-9 in his two seasons there…led the Cardinals to the championship finals of the Region 18 Tournament in 2015…
AT FINDLAY PREP: Attended Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada during the 2012-13 academic year…averaged 10.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 50 percent from the field…helped Findlay to a 35-1 record and an appearance in the Final Four of the Dicks’ Sporting Goods National High School Basketball Tournament…the same prep school as former Florida State star Devidas Dulkys who helped lead the Seminoles to the first ACC Championship in school history in 2012…played with Nigel Williams-Goss (currently at Gonzaga) during his one season at Findlay Prep…
