No. 1 Florida State Visits Virginia Tech
BLACKSBURG, Va. – No. 1 Florida State (13-5, 2-1 Atlantic Coast) will look to snap a two-game losing streak when it faces Virginia Tech (11-8, 1-2 ACC) in Blacksburg for a three-game series beginning Friday afternoon. All three games of the series are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. start times after Friday’s game was moved up due to the threat of inclement weather later in the evening.
All three games will be on radio and the FSU Gameday App with live play-by-play from Eric Luallen, while Sunday’s game will also stream live on the ACC Network Extra.
Florida State is coming off a pair of losses at ranked opponents during the week. On Tuesday, FSU fell 1-0 at No. 5 Florida despite a stellar effort on the mound from starting pitcher Andrew Karp (7.0 IP, 5 H, 11 K). On Wednesday, FSU visited No. 22 Florida Gulf Coast for the first time, falling 5-2 at JetBlue Park, the spring training home of the Boston Red Sox.
The Noles are visiting Blacksburg for the first time since 2013, when Virginia Tech won two of three games and also beat FSU that season in the ACC Tournament. The last time the teams met, FSU won two of three games in Tallahassee in 2015.
The Seminoles won the opening ACC series last weekend in Tallahassee against Boston College. After dropping Friday night’s opener, the Noles won both games of a doubleheader Saturday, outscoring the Eagles 11-1 and 13-0.
Virginia Tech lost the first two games against Duke last weekend before winning the final game, also part of a doubleheader on Saturday. For more information on Florida State baseball, check Seminoles.com for the latest news and scheduling information, or keep up with the team on social media through Twitter (@FSUBaseball), Facebook (/FSUBaseball), and Instagram (@NoleBaseball).
