Florida State Earns No. 4 National Seed
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Securing the automatic bid from the Atlantic Coast Conference for the fourth consecutive season, No. 4-ranked and 2017 ACC Champion Florida State will participate in the 2017 NCAA Softball Championship as a No. 4 national seed and will host an NCAA Regional on JoAnne Graf Field on May 19-21.
The Seminoles (51-6-1) will be joined in Tallahassee by Georgia (33-21), Jacksonville State (40-10) and Princeton (27-28). All games of the regional will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks.
It is the highest national seed for Florida State and marks the third time in the last four seasons that the Seminoles have secured a Top 8 national seed.
The Seminoles have faced a total of 11 teams in the 2017 NCAA Tournament field, posting a combined record of 15-6-1, including wins over the top two national seeds – No. 1 Florida and No. 2 Arizona.
The three-day regional in Tallahassee will be held on May 19-21 and will start with Georgia versus Jacksonville State at 4:30 p.m., followed by Florida State playing Princeton at 7:00 p.m. The Georgia-Jacksonville State game will air on ESPN2, while FSU-Princeton will be broadcast on ESPNU.
The double elimination regional will conclude on May 21 and the winner of the 2017 NCAA Tallahassee Regional will match up with the winner of the Baton Rouge Regional in the NCAA Super Regional round on May 25-28. If Florida State wins its regional, it will host the Super Regionals.
It marks the 18th consecutive season that the Noles have reached the regional round and they are one of nine schools to make the NCAA tournament every year since 2000.
Tickets for the entire Tallahassee Regional will go on sale Monday morning, May 15. Prices for the full session passes are $20 for adults and $15 for youth and seniors. Single-game tickets for Friday's games will go on sale Friday morning and will be $7 for adults and $5 for youth and seniors. Tickets can be ordered either on Seminoles.com or by calling 1-888-FSU-NOLE. The ticket office is located at Gate B on the west side of Doak Campbell Stadium and the office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. ET.
