TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Following a 21-7 regular season finish and a No. 1 seeding in this weekend’s Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Conference Tournament, the Florida State beach volleyball team was honored for its play as three Seminoles captured All-Conference accolades. Graduate senior Leigh Andrew, sophomore Brooke Kuhlman and freshman Francesca Goncalves were all recognized by the CCSA as announced by the league office on Thursday.

The duo of Andrew and Kuhlman earned First Team All-Conference honors, while Goncalves was named to the All-Freshman team. Goncalves claimed Freshman of the Year accolades as well.

Andrew and Kuhlman played at the No. 1 position for the Seminoles for all but one match this season, posting a record of 11-9 in dual-match competition. The duo finished the regular season winners of six of its last eight matches including wins over No. 2 Pepperdine and No. 9 Grand Canyon. Andrew and Kuhlman gathered five match-clinching points for the Noles, with two of them coming when the match was tied 2-2. The Seminole tandem recorded a 5-1 record against other CCSA No. 1 pairs with two of those wins coming in straight sets.

Goncalves finished the regular season with an overall record of 24-4 as she led all Seminoles in wins. Goncalves played anywhere from the No. 2 position to the No. 5 position with 15 of her 28 matches in the No. 2 position. She was a part of three CCSA Pair of the Week duos with two different partners (junior Vanessa Freire and twice with redshirt junior Katie Horton). While teamed up with Freire, Goncalves was able to beat Pepperdine, Long Beach State and USC’s No. 2 pair, culminating in a CCSA and DIG Magazine Pair of the Week Honors. The duo of Goncalves and Horton were able to defeat Pepperdine and USC twice at the No. 4 position, resulting in two CCSA pair of the Week honors.

FSU, the defending conference champions, returns to the sand this weekend in Emerson, Ga. The top-seeded Noles will open competition against UNC Wilmington on Friday at 9 a.m. at the Lakepoint Sporting Community.
