TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The fourth-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team has earned the top seed for the second straight season at the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Beach Volleyball Championships which gets underway this Friday at the Lakepoint Sporting Community in Emerson, Ga. The Seminoles finished the regular season with a 21-7 record, including an 8-0 mark against fellow CCSA members.

The 10-team field will be divided into two five-team pools to begin the championships. The top two teams in each pool will advance to two rounds of bracket play. The championship match on Sunday, April 23, will be broadcast live on ESPN3 at 1 p.m.

The Noles will be looking to defend their CCSA crown, after taking the conference title in 2016.

Joining the top-seeded Noles in pool A are fourth-seeded South Carolina, fifth-seeded FIU, eighth-seeded Tulane and ninth-seeded UNCW. Florida State will open pool play on Friday at 9 a.m. against UNCW, followed with its second match of the day against Tulane at 12 p.m. The Seminoles will conclude pool play on Saturday with another two matches, first against South Carolina at 9 a.m. and lastly against FIU at 12 p.m.

Florida State defeated three of the four schools in its group earlier this year and did not face UNCW. The Seminoles beat the Tigers, 4-1, in DeLand, Fla. back on March 4 to open the season, took down the Gamecocks, 3-2, in Columbia, S.C. and overpowered the Panthers twice, including this past weekend in Tallahassee at the Alumni Weekend Tournament.

The other four teams in pool B consist of second-seeded LSU, third-seeded Georgia State, sixth-seeded FAU, seventh-seeded College of Charleston and 10th-seed UAB.
