GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State freshman offensive lineman Landon Dickerson was named to the 2016 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Football Team as announced by the league office and ACC Commissioner John Swofford on Wednesday.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 GPA for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during their undergraduate and/or graduate academic career.

The Hickory, N.C. native met the qualifications and is majoring in sport management.

Dickerson started seven games in 2016 at right guard, becoming the first true freshman to start a home opener on the offensive line since Jamie Dukes in 1982. He helped the Seminoles to the second highest rushing performance in school history, with 478 yards on 63 carries in the 55-35 victory at USF. Dickerson blocked for Dalvin Cook who had a school-record 1,765 rushing yards and 20 total touchdowns in addition to protecting redshirt freshman Deondre Francois, who was named the ACC Rookie of the Year behind 3,350 passing yards and 25 total touchdowns.

All 14 schools were represented on the 66-man team and chosen from a pool of 143 football student-athletes. Dickerson was one of just five true freshmen on the list.

The ACC has selected an All-ACC Academic Football team every year since 1954.
