TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Before the 13th-ranked Florida State indoor volleyball team heads to Lincoln, Neb. For its season opener against No. 7 Nebraska, the Seminoles will divide into two squads for the annual Garnet versus Gold scrimmage at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Tully Gym.
“This is the first chance for the fans to get a look at our team,” head coach Chris Poole said. “We have nine new players, so it’s a great opportunity for us to go through our regular pre-match routine. It’s a dress rehearsal and a great opportunity for us to see how the ladies will perform under the lights.”
In addition to the 17 active players, former standout Jordana Price will return to the floor and play for the Garnet squad. As a middle blocker, Price was a three-year member of the FSU volleyball team (2007-2009) and was a part of the school’s first ever Elite Eight appearance. She now is heading into her third season as an assistant coach at Valdosta State.
Following the scrimmage, players will be autographing posters in the Tully Gym lobby.
The Seminoles will official begin the season by playing No. 7 Nebraska (Aug. 29) and Iowa State (Aug. 31) in the AVCA Showcase. FSU is the first ACC team to earn the invitation to the highly-touted tournament.
