 PORTO, Portugal – Florida State senior All-American Jace Pardon became a world champion on Sunday after capturing the  2014 World University Beach Volleyball Championship in Porto, Portugal.

Pardon and her partner Brittany Tiegs, a 2012 All-American with the Seminoles, defeated Germany’s top pair of K. Behrens and S. Seyfferth 21-18, 21-12 to grab the gold medal in the 26-team tournament.

Pardon had 13 kills in the finals.  

Pardon and Tiegs advanced to the semifinals following a pair of three-set victories. In the semifinals, the duo defeated Norway’s top pair 21-10, 16-21, 15-11 behind Pardon’s 18 kills.

The pair also defeated USA teammates Aurora Davis and Angela Bensend in the quarterfinals 21-12, 22-24, 15-12.

Davis was a two-time All-American at FSU and partnered with Pardon this past season at the No. 1 spot where the duo compiled a 41-4 mark.

Davis and Bensend finished in a tie for fifth at the tournament.

The World University Championship gold medal wraps up an impressive summer for Pardon. The Manhattan Beach, Calif., native also captured the silver medal at the FIVB Beach Volleyball U23 World Championships in Myslowice, Poland.

In Myslowice, Pardon paired with Lara Dykstra to finish 7-2 en route to the finals.

A two-time All-American at Florida State, Pardon has advanced to two AVCA Pairs National Championship semifinals and led the Seminoles to their first National Championship team finals in 2014.
