TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — As Florida State softball transitions toward the 2018 season, Team 35 has added a new member as pitcher Kylee Hanson has graduated from Florida Atlantic University and will compete in her fifth year of NCAA eligibility as a Seminole next year.

Hanson played three complete seasons as an Owl from 2014-16, and pitched in six games in 2017 before a season-ending injury on February 25. The Jupiter, Fla., native posted a 59-20 record with a 1.21 ERA in 97 career games at FAU, tallying 667 strikeouts and limiting batters to a .177 batting average during her time at Florida Atlantic.

Hanson had the best season of her career in 2016, earning NFCA Second Team All-American honors and was a Top 10 finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year as she went 28-5 with four saves and an NCAA-leading 0.76 ERA, along with a career-high 300 strikeouts. On top of being named Conference USA Pitcher of the Year, she also received 2016 C-USA Female Athlete of the Year honors from the league.

Hanson adds a veteran presence to a Seminole pitching staff led by redshirt junior Meghan King, looking to extend Florida State's streak of five consecutive ACC regular season championships and return the Noles to the Women's College World Series for the third time in five seasons.

It also marks the second time in FSU softball history, and the second year in a row, that the Seminoles will start a season with three All-Americans, as Hanson joins rising seniors Jessie Warren and Morgan Klaevemann.

Fans will be able to see the Noles in action at JoAnne Graf Field this fall during the eight-game exhibition season throughout October and November. The complete fall schedule will be announced later this summer.
