TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Four Members of the Florida State swimming team are set for the 2014 Phillips 66 National Championships this week (Aug. 6-10) in Irvine, Calif. The meet will feature the top U.S. swimmers and will be held at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Complex.
Rising seniors Kaitlyn Dressel, Kevin Rogers and Connor Knight along with freshman Calvin Bryant will swim multiple races during the meet.
“This is it for this group,” FSU head coach Frank Bradley said. “We’ve worked with each of these athletes over the summer and they’re ready to go. They’ve all had great summers. I’m anxious to see how they compete.”
Dressel will represent Club Seminole and is scheduled to swim the sprint events (50m, 100m, 200m free) and will open her meet on Aug. 6 with prelims of the 100m free. Knight will contest in three fly events, starting Wednesday with the 200m fly prelims while representing North Palm Beach.
Bryant is also expected to compete in the 1500m free on the first day of the meet. He will represent St.Petersburg Aquatics in both the mile and the 400m free.
Rogers will represent his home club – YMCA of the Triangle Area and race the 200m free and 200m back on Aug. 7, before swimming the 400 free on Aug. 9.
Former Seminole Mark Weber will also compete in a pair of sprint events for SwimMAC. Weber will open with the 100m free before closing out the meet with his specialty, the 50m free.
Prelims each day will begin at 9 a.m. (PT) with finals to follow at 6 p.m. The top 24 swimmers from prelims will advance to finals in each event with the exception of the 800m and 1500m free races.

Pike Gears Up for South African Nationals
Former FSU swimmer Jared Pike will compete at the 2014 South African Short Course Nationals in Pietermaritzburg, which run from Aug. 7-10 and will be held at the Joliffe Swimming Pool.
As the third-ranked breaststroker in the country in each distance, Pike will contest in the 50m, 100m and 200m throughout the weekend.
“Jared has a big month ahead of him,” Bradley said. “He made a few adjustments before sectionals and he had a fantastic meet. He’s ready to go and I can’t wait to see how he performs.”
Pike is also expected to compete in the Pan Pacific Championships at the end of August in Queensland, Australia.
Sankovich Wins Three at the Slovenia Open
Pavel Sankovich earned three gold medals and a silver at the 2014 Slovenia Open, which ran from July 31- Aug.3.
Sankovich won the 100m fly (53.01), 50m fly (24.16) and the 200 IM (2:03.71). He added silver in the 100m back and turned in a time of 57.72.
The Former Seminole will represent Belarus at the 2014 European Championships in Berlin from Aug.18-24.
