Former Seminoles Nab Titles

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State men's tennis program have several current and former players competing around the world this summer. This past weekend former Seminoles Jean-Yves Aubone and Anderson Reed both won titles.

Aubone, an All-American who played at Florida State from 2007-2010, returned to tennis in October of 2012 after taking time off to work in the financial industry. At the USA F19 Futures in Pittsburgh, Penn., Aubone won his first singles title since his comeback as he topped Toby Martin (GBR) in a tight 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (6) match. In the semifinals, he topped No. 392 Liam Broady (GBR) 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Reed, who graduated in 2013, won his first doubles title as he teamed up with Carl Eguez (USA) at the Canada F4 Futures. He and Eguez topped Philip Bester (CAN) and Matt Seeberger (USA) in the finals 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4). It was also the first doubles title for Eguez.

In Tallahassee, Florida State hosted an ITA Summer Circuit tournament presented by the USTA. Five current Seminoles competed against other players from different colleges. All five of the Seminoles, Grayson Goldin, Michael Rinaldi, Marco Nunez, Jake Albo and Parker Evertsen, all reached the round of 16. Rinaldi and Nunez both played in the quarterfinals while Goldin reached the finals. He lost to Georgia Tech's Cole Fiegel 6-4, 3-6, 10-6.

Lock continues his summer in Turkey at the Turkey F23 Futures by reaching the quarterfinals of singles action. After winning two matches in qualifying, he topped Dominik Kellovsky (CZE) 6-4, 7-6 (3) in the round of 32 and then topped Franjo Raspudic (CRO) 6-2, 5-7, 6-1. In the quarterfinals, he lost to No. 306 Aldin Setkic (BIH) 6-3, 6-1. In the Turkey F24 Futures, Lock lost his first round match of the main draw.

In Spain, Cristian Gonzalez Mendez played at the Open La Calleja in Ferrol where he reached the semifinals. He lost to No. 812 Jordi Muñoz.
