Florida State Volleyball Falls To ACC No. 2 Duke In Four Games

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Lady Seminoles were defeated by the Duke Blue Devils in four games this evening, 27-30, 28-30, 30-20, and 28-30, snapping their season high six game win streak. The last lost for Florida State came at home on October 12 against the Duke Blue Devils who have won their eighth match in the last nine contests.
The Lady Seminoles out hit the Blue Devils .285 to .242 despite losing by only a total of seven points. Florida State had three players in double figure kills and two players recording double-doubles. Junior Alex Sevillano hit .323 on the night with 15 kills, 14 digs, and three service aces, while junior Erica Bunch posted the other Lady Seminole double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs.
Senior Norisha Campbell continued her hot hitting recording double digit kills (19) for the 21st time in 22 matches this season for the Lady Seminoles. Also, Dawn Hough provided a .400 hitting percentage with eight kills, five block assists and one block solo for FSU.
The Blue Devils were led by senior Ashley Harris, and junior Jill Sonne who had hitting percentages of .389 and .387, respectively. Harris finished with 17 kills and 15 digs, while Sonne compiled 16 kills and 11 digs.
With the win, the Blue Devils run their record to 19-3 and 11-3 in the ACC, while the Lady Seminoles fall to 12-10 overall and 8-5 in the ACC. Florida State is back in action on Saturday, November 3, 2001 at 7 p.m. against Wake Forest in Winston-Salem. The Lady Seminoles defeated the Demon Deacons earlier this season at home in three straight sets.
