Recap?|? Box Score

Florida State head coach Patrick Baker:

"First of all, Ole Miss is a very good soccer team. They made it very difficult for us to play like we are capable of; I give them partial credit for that, they made it difficult at times. We've been preaching defending for a good while now."

On the FSU defense:

"We've said it from the get-go, when you get to this point you have to defend well. That's why I felt like Katie and Meredith were our co-MVPs tonight. It's the little things, and all of those little things added up. I think it's safe to say they haven't added up for us over the past couple of weeks, but we've worked hard at it and it paid off."

On the match with Auburn:

"They're good up top with the three-front. They're solid across the back; they've got some good individual players in their midfield. I think one of the most evident things is Megan Rivera. As was the case last year, we snuck one past her but it was a great misdirection to Camie at the back post. That is what it would have to take because she is so good at the little things - you have to do something pretty dynamic to beat her. They're having a wonderful year."

Florida State forward Cindy Schofield:

On her penalty kick:

"The penalty kick was all Summer. She wasn't going to get taken down, and it could have easily just been a goal that way. We know in tournament time, it comes down to PKs."

Florida State midfielder Jez Ratliff:

On her goal:

"When Cindy got it, I know that I was running on her left side and Camie Bybee was on her right side. She sent a great ball, and I was able to beat the keeper to it and put it in the net."

Florida State defender Meredith Jones:

On the FSU defense:

"I think it was the little things. I think getting a shutout was imperative. Now that we're in the tournament, it'll help us knowing that we can get shutouts against good teams."

Florida State goalkeeper Kerry York:

"I know we've worked really hard on defense all week. I think, collectively, that we were so good from top to bottom that it made the difference in getting the shutout."

Ole Miss head coach Steve Holeman:

"First of all, the staff is very proud of this team. We felt that we had a very good season and, of course, we hate to see it come to an end. We lost to a very good Florida State team. They're very talented, very organized and well coached. Our girls came out tonight and gave everything they had; they played with all of their heart. We can't be too upset about that."

FSU's athleticism:

"They are very athletic, and they possess the ball very well. They have tremendous speed on their outside mids; Jez Ratliff was a handful for us tonight. We felt we did a pretty good job containing their athleticism, but that is definitely an asset to their program."
