The Florida State volleyball team defeated ACC No.2 North Carolina in three games in front of an energized crowd of 673 in Lucy McDaniel Arena at Tully Gym. The Lady Seminoles came out late to dominate game one 30-20. In game two the Tar Heels came out fighting, but it wouldn't be enough to stop FSU as they took game two in a close 30-28 decision. Determined to win the match in three games, FSU took over and won game three 30-24.

Head coach Cecile Reynaud was very pleased with the outcome of tonight's match. "I think everybody showed up really focused and intent on beating North Carolina," said Reynaud. "I think that we can beat anyone when we show up with that focus and intensity. There is no better place to play in the country then Tully Gym on a Friday night."

Although North Carolina outblocked FSU 10 to eight, the Lady Seminoles outhit the Tar Heels .270 to .129. Leading the Lady Seminoles to the win was senior Norisha Campbell who finished the night with a match-high hitting percentage of .583, while contributing four block assists. Campbell would also enter the Florida State record books for all time career kills. With her match total of 17 added to her career total of 1214, Campbell enters the individual career records for kills in 10th place (1232).

"I think this win tonight was very important," said Campbell. "It was a definite confidence builder for everybody, especially coming off of a very tough road trip. This win is definitely going to help us heading into the ACC tournament."

FSU junior Alex Sevillano notched the lone double-double of the night with 10 kills and 10 digs. Sevillano would take the squad on a five-point streak, which included three service aces. Erica Bunch had the match-high in digs with 12 and a team-high 33 attacks. With the win FSU improves to 14-11 overall and 9-6 in the ACC.
