Tallahassee, Fla. - Florida State will wrap-up the spring season this weekend with a road trip to Alabama as they face the Auburn Tigers on Saturday, April 14. The match is set to kickoff at 1:00 pm CT at the Auburn Soccer Complex and admission is free to all fans.
"This is a chance for our student-athletes to go out and compete against some different players," said head coach Mark Krikorian. "Our group has worked pretty hard throughout the spring. Even though our numbers have been down (due to injuries), this group has put forth a very good effort in training. It's been a positive and productive spring for us. These student-athletes have had a good work mentality all through the spring season. We are going to go in there (against Auburn) and enjoy the day. Like I have said in the past, the results of the spring games do not make much difference. It's more about evaluating our individuals in pressure situations. We know that Auburn is a good team. We'll go up there and test our selves in a tough environment. We are really looking forward to Saturday's match against the Tigers."
This is the Seminoles' third scheduled game of the spring season with all three matches coming against Southeastern Conference foes. The Garnet and Gold defeated Georgia 3-0 back on February 24, while their March 23 match-up against Florida was cancelled.
Against the Bulldogs, Florida State's Sarah Wagenfuhr found the back of the net off a corner kick service in the first 30 minutes of action, while Mami Yamaguchi contributed two more goals to seal the Seminole victory.
The Seminoles will begin their quest for a third straight College Cup appearance as they open the 2007 season in Portland on September 1 against the Pilots.
NOTE: Game time for the final spring match of the season in Auburn as been changed to 1:00 pm CT due to threatening weather approaching the area in the evening on Saturday.
