TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State men's tennis team opens the fall season with three players ranked in the FILA/ITA poll led by 13th-ranked junior Jean-Yves Aubone.

"I think Jean-Yves being ranked 13th shows how many strong players there are coming back this year," FSU head coach Dwayne Hultquist said.  "I'm glad to see Clint in the 40's and [Maciek Sykut] get in the rankings as well.  I think it's pretty good to have a team with that many guys ranked."

Aubone's No. 13 ranking equals the highest ranking in Seminole history which he obtained in April of 2008.  He is the second highest ranked ACC player behind Miami's Daniel Vallverdu (No. 3) who Aubone defeated last season at the ACC Tournament. The junior finished last season ranked No. 19 after compiling a 22-10 record including a 12-6 mark against ranked opponents.  He became the second Seminole to earn All-American singles honors joining FSU assistant coach Mat Cloer.  The Miami, Fla. native's high ranking allows him to automatically qualify for one of the big fall tournaments, the 2008 D'Novo Men's All-American Championships.

"I know that the ranking will get me directly into the main draw at the All-American Championships," Aubone said.  "It gives me a good opportunity and a little bit of a target on my back, but that's good because it pushes me to work harder."

Joining Aubone in the singles rankings are sophomore Clint Bowles at No. 47 and senior Maciek Sykut at No. 119.  Bowles finished last season ranked 82nd and earned All-ACC honors after going 27-16 in his first season at Florida State.  Sykut finished last season with a 21-14 record and needs a combined 39 doubles and singles victories to become Florida State's all-time career wins leader.  Sykut currently has 122 career wins in singles and doubles.

In the doubles rankings Aubone and Bowles begin the preseason ranked No. 12.  The duo broke the Florida State record for wins in a season with 28 victories in 2007-08.
