The Florida State University volleyball team started the week off with three-a-day practices as they begin to prepare for what will be a busy fall season. Nearing the end of the week practices were dropped to two-a-days.
The volleyball team returns with all five starters in: Norisha Campbell (Universal City, Texas), Dawn Hough (Brandon, Fla.), Jen Anderson (Minier, Ill.), Kristin Frye (Ft. Wayne, Ind.) and Erica Bunch (Crawfordville, Fla.), and welcomes five newcomers to the program.
The Lady `Noles start off the preseason ranked No. 4 in the ACC while receiving votes for the USA Today/AVCA Preseason Top 25 Poll.
"This team is further along than last year's team was at this time," said head coach Cecile Reynaud. "Unfortunately Aisha Carr has been hurt until today so we haven't had a chance to evaluate her. The team as a whole has much better ball control and focus than last year."
The Lady Seminoles will open the season on the road, facing three ranked opponents in the first two weeks. The first game of the 2001 season takes the team to California for the Pepperdine Tournament to be held Aug. 31st and Sept. 1st. Florida State is set to face Fresno State Friday, August 31st at 7:00 p.m. PT, Fresno State leads FSU 2-0 in the all-time series record. Following the Pepperdine tourney the team will travel to Texas for the Texas A&M Tournament and then to play rival Florida before returning home to host the Tallahassee Democrat/Lady Seminole Classic Sept. 14th and 15th.
