TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Seminoles battled the Duke Blue Devils Saturday, September 28th, at Tully Gymnasium on the campus of Florida State University. After falling to Duke in game one of the match, Florida State came from behind to defeat the Blue Devils, 3-1 (19-30, 31-29, 30-25, 30-19). Four Seminoles, led by senior Kristin Frye, put up double digit kills to contribute to the Florida State victory. The Tribe improves to 10-4 overall and 2-0 in the ACC, while Duke falls to 12-5 overall, 0-2 in the ACC.

"I'm very happy with the way that we finished the match tonight," said head coach Todd Kress. "We had a gut check and I think tonight will go a long way in building team confidence."

The Seminoles were rattled in game one as Duke won 30-19, but battled from behind to defeat the Blue Devils, 3-1. Florida State gained momentum after winning games two by a score of 31-29 and never looked back. The Tribe rolled in games three and four, defeating the Blue Devils by scores of 30-25 and 30-19.

Frye recorded her second double-double of the season to lead the Seminoles past the Blue Devils. She had 19 kills, 12 digs and a .485 hitting percentage. Sophomore middle hitter Aisha Carr notched 10 kills on 16 attacks with three errors to hit .438 for Florida State. Senior Alex Sevillano contributed to the Seminole effort, as she had 14 kills, 11 digs and three service aces. Erica Bunch also recorded double digit kills, as she had 10 on the evening. Junior setter Jennifer Anderson edged closer to second place among FSU's all-time assists leaders as she tallied 51 assists and six digs against Duke.

Duke was led by Jill Sonne, as she had 12 kills, four service aces and 10 digs. Katie Gilman also performed well for the Blue Devils, recording 14 kills and six digs. Sarah Salem also had double digit kills for Duke with 10. Leading the Blue Devils in assists was Stephanie Istvan, as she notched 32 on the evening.

Florida State will take to the road next weekend, when the Seminoles will face the Clemson Tigers and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The match at Clemson is scheduled for Saturday, October 5th at 4:00 p.m. On Sunday, October 6th, the Tribe will travel to Atlanta, Ga. to take on the Yellow Jackets in a 3:00 p.m. match.
