TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State men's tennis team will host Furman University Thursday, February 27, at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center on the campus of Florida State University. The match is scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm. The Seminoles enter the contest with a record of 4-5 on the season, while the Paladins have a 4-4 record.
The Seminoles and the Paladins have met 29 times in the history of the two programs. The Seminoles lead the series with an all-time record of 25-4. Last season, Florida State defeated Furman 6-1.
Florida State, currently ranked 44th nationally, enters the match with a record of 4-5. The Tribe has knocked off two ranked teams this season. On their first road trip of the season, the Seminoles defeated #57 Michigan and #44 Notre Dame. The five losses on the Florida State schedule came to higher-ranked opponents. The Florida State duo of Alex Herrera and Romain Jurd, present a challenge to opposing teams. The tandem enters the Furman match with a record of 7-2 in dual match play.
The Paladins, currently have a record of 4-4 and ranked 63rd nationally, defeated Samford 7-0 Tuesday. Furman is led by senior James Cameron, who along with junior Patrick Fillnow create a tough doubles combination with a season record of 10-2.
The Tribe will return to action Sunday, March 2nd, when they host the Georgia State Panthers at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.
