FSU Volleyball Closes out October With Jacksonville, Clemson and Georgia Tech

Tallahasee, Fla. - The Lady Seminoles will close out the month of October with three matches. The team will first travel to face Jacksonville University on Tues. Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. The team will then return to host ACC opponent Clemson, on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. and Georgia Tech on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 1:00 p.m. The squad enters competition against Jacksonville 9-9 in 2001 as they attempt to keep their 25-0 streak against the Dolphins alive.
The Florida State Lady Seminoles enter competition this week coming off of a thrilling weekend that lead the squad to victories against ACC opponents Virginia and Maryland. The Seminoles defeated Virginia 3-1, while taking the win over Maryland in five game 3-2. Senior standout Norisha Campbell was named ACC Co-Player Of The Week with Maryland's Willette Dority. On the week, Campbell recorded 4.31 kills per game, 1.29 blocks per game and a .391 hitting percentage. The senior middle hitter from Universal City, Texas, had her best match of the week against Maryland where she hit a career-high 29 kills while also contributing seven blocks and a .377 hitting percentage. Campbell currently leads the Lady Seminoles in both blocks (72) and kills (302).
In the ACC the Lady Seminoles are now ranked fourth following weekend action that improved their conference record to 6-4. FSU's Campbell is ranked in three categories in the ACC, third in blocks (90), second in hitting percentage (.354) and third in kills (302). Junior Kristin Frye is standing in sixth in service aces with a team-high 31, while juniors Erica Bunch and Alex Sevillano stand in fifth and eighth place respectively in digs per game.
Jacksonville enters competition against the Seminoles with a 5-13 record and will attempt to beak their current three-match losing streak. The Dolphins are currently led by junior middle-hitter Brooke Ahrins who has tallied 215 kills with 3.31 per game. Ahrins also leads the team in blocks with 57. Senior Carrie Bobworth has notched 573 assists this season, while sophomore outside hitter Radka Dimitrova leads the team in digs with 163.
The Clemson Tigers (6-12, 2-8) will face the Lady Seminoles on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. following their mat against Georgia Tech on Oct. 23rd. Prior to that match Clemson will be coming off of a three-match losing streak. The Tigers are led by senior Jodi Steffies. Steffes has a team-best 259 kills and 3.92 kills per game average, and also leads the Tigers in service aces (29) and digs (179). Jessi Betcher has a team-high 694 assists and is second on the team in digs with 171 and service aces (23). Sophomore Marija Zoric is the Tiger leader in blocks with 55 total (10 solo). Florida State enters competition against Clemson leading the all-time series record 16-10.
Georgia Tech is currently in third place in the ACC with a 2001 record of 12-5 and an ACC record of 7-3. The Yellow Jackets are led by senior outside hitter Maja Pachale, who currently leads the team in kills with 287. In addition, freshman Lynnette Moster recorded a career-high 20 digs against the Blue Devils as she leads the team in service aces with 33. Setter Kele Eveland has totaled 748 assist on the season. Georgia Tech enters action against the Seminoles leading in the all-time series record 16-5.
With only five home matches left before ACC Tournament action come catch the Lady Seminoles at home this weekend as they face Clemson on Friday evening at 7:30 and Georgia Tech Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
