FSU Volleyball Loses Heartbreaker to ACC Opponent Maryland

The Florida State Lady Seminoles faced ACC opponent Maryland tonight at the friendly confines of the Lucy McDaniel Arena at Tully Gym. The Tribe fell to Maryland in a heartbreaker, 3-2. With the loss FSU falls to 2-7 and 1-2 in ACC action while Maryland improves to 5-6 and 2-2 in conference play.
Tonight's match-up between the Lady Seminoles and the Terrapins was a close one to the end. Both teams totaled 11 blocks on the night, as each team fought point for point.
"Maryland did a nice job tonight," said head coach Cecile Reynaud. "I think are kids want to win so badly that they are almost trying too hard, which is tough, and they need someone to make a few more mistakes than we do."
For the third consecutive match, junior Erica Bunch led both teams in digs with 15. Bunch also notched her third double-double of the season with 17 kills and 10 digs. Senior Norisha Campbell would lead both teams in kills with 22. Junior Alex Sevillano would also add another double-double to her career with 15 kills and 13 digs.
Maryland was led by Carey Brennan who tallied 20 kills and 14 digs on the night, while Willette Dority saw a match high hitting percentage of .435. Also contributing to the Maryland win was Maria DiLivio who recorded 44 attacks and 16 kills.
FSU volleyball will now prepare for its next match of the season at home against Virginia. The match is set for Sunday, Sept. 30 at 1:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Sunshine Network.
