Garrett Johnson Concludes Track Championships With Record Breaking Performance

Carson, Calif. - Redshirt sophomore Garrett Johnson (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Baptist Academy) bettered the Florida State track and field school record in the shot put, throwing 67'0.75" (20.44m) at the 2005 U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., on Sunday, June 26, 2005.

The All-American, who had the number one spot with a mark of 66'0.75" (20.13m), hit the mark on his second throw of the six-attempt series, finishing with the seventh best mark in the country. It marks the second time this season, the Academic All-American has hit the 20-meter mark in the event.

Junior LaToya Legree (Lithonia, Ga./Stephenson) jumped 40'9.5" (12.43m) on her third attempt to finish in the top 20 in the nation in the triple jump. The third-year Seminole ended the 2005 season at the nation's best track meet and after a year that included a career-best performance at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships.
