FSU vs. Auburn Quarterfinals NCAA Tournament
Auburn Head Coach Karen Richter
"We had a great year winning the SEC and making it to the second round but unfortunately, we came up short today. We are a really young team and we have all our starters back next year. We play better after we score and we played great in the second half. Give credit to the FSU defense. They shut us down"
"When you have to two great teams playing, unfortunately, one of them has to go home. It's been a great season. Our seniors went from being last in the SEC as freshmen to being SEC champions. It's been one of the best year's Auburn's ever had."
FSU Head Coach Patrick Baker
"We had our hands full today. It could have gone either way. It's an unbelievable feeling getting back to the Sweet 16. There is nothing like playing in our conference. Playing in the ACC prepared us for these type of games."
"Possession is something we take pride in. We tried to put pressure on them by keeping possession of the ball."
(On York): "Our defense starts with our goalie. She came up big when she needed to."
"I never thought we were going to lose or go to overtime. Auburn played great and fortunately, we were able to close it out."
(On game-winning goal): Jenny played Leah a great ball and the defenders keyed on her. I got in the seam and scored an easy goal. We can play so well at times and it is great to be back in the Sweet 16."
