FSU's Janson and Johnson Awarded ACC Honors

Tallahassee, Fla. - Florida State senior Lacy Janson (Sarasota, Fla./Cardinal Mooney) and redshirt sophomore Garrett Johnson (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Baptist Academy) earned ACC Co-Performer of the Week Honors for their performances at the Florida Intercollegiate meet in Gainesville, Fla., on Saturday January 15, 2004.
Johnson recorded a personal-best, Florida State school record and Stephen C. O'Connell Center record throw of 66' 8.75" (20.34) in the men's shot put to win the event. It was the second consecutive event win and qualifying mark for him in as many weeks. Johnson threw for 61'10.5" (18.86m). The mark by Johnson was the second furthest throw in the world and the current longest collegiate throw in the nation this season.
Janson hit the automatic qualifying mark in the women's pole vault competition at the Florida Intercollegiates in Gainesville, Fla. over the weekend. The redshirt-junior from Sarasota, Fla. crossed the bar at 13' 9.25" (4.20m) to win the event. The meet was Janson's first indoor meet since winning the indoor national pole vault championship in 2003.
Johnson shares the honors with Virginia Tech's Spyridon Jullien while Janson was named alongside Maryland's Kierra Foster and Georgia Tech's Chaunte Howard.
The Seminoles return to the track this weekend traveling to East Tennessee State in Johnson City, Tenn. and the Pole Vault Summit in Reno, Nev.
