Florida State Volleyball To Face South Florida

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team, coming off an upset of the 11th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels, travel to Tampa, Fla. to face the University of South Florida Tuesday, October 29th at 7:00 p.m. Florida State looks to extend their three-match winning streak against the Bulls. Last season, the Bulls defeated Florida State by a score of 3-1, but the Seminoles hold a 32-4 advantage in the all-time series record. Florida State enters the match with an overall record of 16-7, while South Florida is 21-5.
Florida State is led by its four outstanding seniors, Dawn Hough, Kristin Frye, Erica Bunch and Alex Sevillano. Middle hitter Hough has been a leader this season, as she has recorded 192 kills, 21 service aces, 16 solo blocks, 70 block assists and a hitting percentage of .319. Outside hitter Frye returns this season leading the way with 325 kills, averaging 3.57 kills per game, 179 digs and a .300 hitting percentage. Bunch, another explosive outside hitter for the Seminoles, has tallied 299 kills, averaging 3.48 kills per game and has 42 total blocks. Outside hitter Sevillano has also stepped up this season with 278 kills, 172 digs and a team high 50 service aces. Junior setter Jennifer Anderson has recorded an astounding 1,173 assists, 20 service aces and 162 digs on the season. Sophomore middle hitter Aisha Carr has elevated her level of play this season recording 172 kills, 16 service aces, 18 solo blocks, 67 block assists and a hitting percentage of .289.
South Florida is led by senior outside hitter Michelle Collier as she has recorded 498 kills, with an average of 5.47 kills per game, 44 service aces and 318 digs this season. Senior setter Alessandra Domingos has also contributed to the Bulls' success this season, recording 1,204 assists, 22 service aces, 171 digs and a hitting percentage of .337. Senior outside hitter Jolene Patton has contributed her share as well, tallying 281 kills, 29 service assists and 267 digs. Junior middle hitter Bonnye Glover has recorded 177 kills, averaging 2.36 kills per game, 12 solo blocks, 61 block assists and a hitting percentage of .326 on the season.
Following the midweek match against South Florida, the Seminoles will be traveling to College Park, Md. and to Charlottesville, Va. to face the Maryland Terrapins and the Virginia Cavaliers.
