TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State Women's Soccer team was recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for their work in the class during the 2008-09 academic year.

The Seminoles were one of 326 women's soccer programs at all levels that posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award.

Senior captain Becky Edwards was honored as a third team Academic All-American by CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine in 2009. With the honor, Edwards became the first Seminole soccer player to be recognized as an Academic All-American at the national level.

Earlier this year, four Seminoles earned CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District III accolades including Edwards, who was a first team honoree. Also joining Edwards was sophomore Tori Huster (second team), junior Marissa Kazbour (third team) and red-shirt sophomore Erin McNulty (third team).

Florida State finished the 2008-09 academic calendar with a team GPA of 3.23. It marks the second time in the last three years that the Seminole soccer squad as earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award.
