TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - For the fourth-consecutive match, the 16th-ranked Florida State Indoor Volleyball team won a 3-0 sweep at home, defeating Clemson (15-15, 9-10) on Friday.
"We challenged them to raise the level of play between the second and third sets," head coach Chris Poole said. "We challenged them to be a little more consistent and play aggressive but not reckless. In the third set we started kicking it in a little bit."
The win moves the Seminoles to 23-7, 16-3, extending their home ACC winning streak to 27 matches.
For the sixth-consecutive match, sophomore outside hitter Nicole Walch led the Seminole attack with her sixth double-double of the season, swinging for 12 kills while adding 12 digs.
Redshirt freshman Sarah Burrington recorded a .556 hitting percentage on 10 kills, while leading the blocking efforts with five. Senior right side hitter Elise Walch accounted for four blocks and nine kills, while senior middle blocker Ashley Neff had three blocks and six kills.
Senior outside hitter Olivera Medic had 16 digs and six kills, while adding four assists.
Redshirt junior libero Katie Mosher was under 19 digs with four assists.
The Seminoles got off to a shaky start, trailing for most of the set before taking over the lead 17-16. FSU outscored Clemson 8-5 down the stretch in order to steal the 1-0 lead.
In the second, FSU looked to put the Tigers away after a quick 4-1 run to go up 18-14 However Clemson put together a streak of their own in order to tie the set 18-18 and then three more times before the Noles closed it out with the 2-0 advantage, 25-23.
Thanks to an 11-2 run in the third set, the Seminoles were able to put the Tigers away easily in the third, 25-16, completing the sweep.
