The Florida State Lady Seminoles defeated Clemson in three games tonight (30-28, 30-23, 30-14) as the Lady Seminoles extend their win streak to five matches. Florida State improves to 11-9 on the season, 7-4 in ACC play. Clemson falls to 6-14 on the season and 2-10 in conference action. The match brought a season high crowd of 831 fans to Tully Gym to cheer on the Seminoles.
Junior outside hitter Erica Bunch led the squad with 40 attacks and 16 kills. Junior Alex Sevillano had her ninth double-double of the season with 12 kills and 13 digs, as well as a team-high .579 hitting percentage. Also, Senior Norisha Campbell had 13 kills and a .571 hitting percentage in the Lady Seminoles' win. For the second straight game the Lady Seminoles out blocked their opponent nine to one.
"We have developed a stronger bond as a team lately and hope that will help us as we get closer to the ACC Tournament," Erica Bunch said.
Dawn Hough added six kills and five total blocks for the team in her first home appearance after missing nine matches due to a stress fracture. Her last home appearance was in the team's first home game of the season against South Florida.
"We have put in a lot of hard work, and we have everybody healthy again," said head coach Cecile Reynaud. "With Dawn in tonight we saw some great blocks and she was able to attack the ball pretty well. She really adds a lot to our team when she can dominate the net."
The Lady Seminoles return to ACC action Sunday, October 28 when Georgia Tech comes to Tully Gym to face the Seminoles at 1 p.m. The Yellow Jackets are ranked second in the ACC with a record of 13-5, and 8-3 in the ACC.
