COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Florida State traveled to College Park, Md. Saturday night to take on the Terrapins of the University of Maryland. The Seminoles defeated the Terps by a score of 3-1 (30-25, 20-30, 30-23, 30-27). With the victory, the Tribe improves to 17-8 overall, 8-3 in the ACC, while Maryland falls to 16-11, 5-7 in the conference.
Senior outside hitter Alex Sevillano led the Seminole squad, as she recorded a double double with 15 kills and 16 digs. Kristin Frye notched 16 kills, six digs, four block assists and a hit .343 against the Terrapins. Seniors Erica Bunch and Dawn Hough each contributed 12 kills to the Seminoles' effort. Junior setter Jennifer Anderson led the Tribe in assists with 58. Anderson also had eight digs on the evening.
Carey Brennan led the Terrapins with 17 kills, 14 digs, one service ace and a hitting percentage of .265. Lynnsy Jones, who recorded a career-high 33 kills against the Seminoles earlier this season, was held to 15 kills and eight digs in the rematch. Rachael Wagener was impressive, as she had eight kills on 10 attacks with two errors for a hitting percentage of .600. Maryland setter Lindsay Davey led the Terps in assists with 50.
The Seminoles will return to action Sunday, November 3rd, when they take on the Virginia Cavaliers in Charlottesville, Va. The match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
