CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Seminoles entered the North Carolina match Saturday evening with confidence after defeating the Tar Heels earlier in the season in Tallahassee. Confidence would not be enough to lead Florida State to victory, as the Seminoles were plagued by hitting errors and were defeated by a score of 3-0 (30-22, 30-22, 30-21). With the loss, the Seminoles fall to 19-11 overall and 10-6 in the conference. North Carolina improves to 27-2, 14-1 in the ACC.
Senior middle hitter Dawn Hough led the way for the Seminoles as she recorded nine kills, two digs, one solo block, five block assists and hit .364 against North Carolina. Erica Bunch contributed to the Florida State effort as she notched nine kills, three digs, one solo block and one block assists. Opposite Kristin Frye had eight kills, one service ace and 10 digs on the evening. Sophomore middle hitter Aisha Carr tallied eight kills, one service aces and two digs. Jennifer Anderson led the team in assists with 36.
Laura Greene led the Tar Heel attack, as she had 17 kills, one service ace, eight digs, one solo block and three block assists. Setter Eve Rackham recorded 43 assists and 10 digs to lead North Carolina in those categories. Holly Strauss had an impressive evening, as she tallied 12 kills, one dig, five block assists and a hitting percentage of .500. Molly Pyles was strong as she had 12 kills, two service aces, four digs, and hit .346.
The Seminoles will return to action next weekend when they travel to Atlanta to take part in the ACC Tournament. The tournament is scheduled to take place November 21-24.
